    Red face

After putting the test pipe on my car, I smell exhaust gas inside the car. I BELIEVE the only way it could possibly come in is through the opening where the emergency brake resides. May be I'm just imaginging things since I can feel some heat in this area...But is there an actual opening here to the outside? If so, is there anyway to seal it off? I haven't gotten a chance to take it apart yet to find out...just wondering if anyone has.

Ah. . . that odor is something you might just have to live with. Consider this, when you're moving forward, the exhaust gases are being expelled backwards, but the motion of the car and the air around will actually make some of the exhaust gases move into the car when you come to a stop. If you're idling, those gases will just build up around you.

I know how you feel. But then again, the power is worth the smell. smile

exhaust smell is richer without cat . the turbulance behind the car will pull the gases up around the rear of the car and trace amounts can make it into the cabin .

I was having this problem on my car and I found that the rubber boot around the shifter (UNDER the center console) was loose and allowing air / exhaust to come straight into the cabin. Might be worth checking. Otherwise you just got smelly exhaust and you have to live with it.
